The new Site is coming along and is being constructed by programming legend and iLobster mastermind Ben Greeley. As with all of my projects, this whole process started out as a sketch. From there I created a grid in InDesign and reconstructed that grid with all the graphics in Photoshop. From their Ben is working on building it in Word Press. I wish I knew more about web design and how it all works, but we’ve all got our specialties, right? Ben makes things work and I make them pretty. That’s how the two of us created iLobster in the first place. We also worked together on the design of the Alden Camps Web Site.

Well, stay turned for the official launch of my Site, I’m really excited to start promoting it. I’ll announce the page’s debut on my Facebook Fan page: RPH Studio

I’ll have to admit I’m not the blogger in the family. In fact, if I could afford her, I’d have my wife blog for me. Not only does she blog for fun, but she’s the managing editor for a blogging hub that inspires young women. What I do is visual, and the since the worlds of Illustration and Graphic Design change with every software update (by the way your CS5 just went out of date), I decided to start this blog to chart my adventure and let you into my world of paint brushes and Pantone swatches.

I’m equal parts graphic designer and illustrator. (Okay, maybe a little more illustrator than designer, but if you’re familiar with my work, you probably already knew that.) I studied graphic design at San Diego State, illustration at Cal State Long Beach, painting at Pitzer College and received my M.A. in illustration design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I’ve worked for newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, Pasadena Star-News and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. I’m the current senior graphic designer at Colby College in Waterville Maine.

As a lifelong student, I love experimenting with different techniques and mediums, but over the past 2 years, I’ve settled into working with a combination of traditional watercolors, ink and Adobe Illustrator.

So now that you know a little about me and my background, bare with me as I turn the lights on and find my voice within this new medium.
